Antenatal Care

Mother and Baby

A drop-in clinic for advice and weight checking for all children up to 5 years old (No appointment needed). Run by our Health Visitors.

Time: One Tuesday each month 3.30pm – 5pm. See reception for next date held.

Vaccinations

Routine and travel advice & vaccinations. Fridays 4pm – 6pm. (15 mins apt)

Administration of routine baby vaccinations at 2, 3 & 4 months of age, MMR at 1 year, pre-school boosters at 4 years. Make appointment during normal nurse clinic hours (10 mins apt)

Respiratory

Regular check-ups and advice for patients with asthma or emphysema / chronic bronchitis, including inhaler technique checks, medication review & lung function testing.

Time: Tuesdays 10.50am – 12.30pm (20 mins apt)

Diabetes

Regular diabetes monitoring, medication review and lifestyle advice to optimise diabetic control and prevent future complications

Time: Mondays 10.50am – 12.30pm & during normal nurse clinic hours (20 mins apt)

Stop Smoking

One-to-one support from our practice nurse to help you give up smoking. Advice and supply of nicotine replacement (patches, gum or tablets). Carbon monoxide monitoring to measure the benefits of quitting available. Make appointment during normal nurse clinic hours (20 mins apt)

Smears

Routine and follow-up smears. (Women aged 25-49 are advised to have a smear every 3 years, women 50-64 every 5 years). Make appointment during normal nurse clinic hours (20 mins appt) Smears also taken Saturday mornings at Great Oaks Family Planning Clinic (No appointment needed)

Blood pressure

Routine and follow-up BP measurements. On referral from the doctor, 24-hour BP monitoring is available to diagnose hypertension. Make appointment during normal nurse clinic hours (10 mins appt / 24-hour BP: 20 mins appt on 2 consecutive days)

Routine Nursing Care

Dressings, suture removal, ear syringing, injections, weighing, etc. Make appointment during normal nurse clinic hours (10-20 mins apt)
